1st Annual Permaculture Design Course with Toby Hemenway
The GrowHaus is excited to cosponsor Denver's first-ever Permaculture Design Course, a comprehensive 72-hour training in the ecological paradigm. Permaculture is a revolutionary design science that applies nature’s patterns to human structures, and the Permaculture Design Course (or PDC) has been taught around the world for decades to certify Permaculture designers.
Toby Hemenway, the lead instructor of the course, is the author of Gaia’s Garden, a guide to home-scale permaculture that has been the best-selling permaculture book in the world for the last seven years. Other guest instructors include Penny Livingston, a nationally-renowned permaculturalist based in northern California, and Adam Brock, Director of Operations at The GrowHaus.
The Denver PDC will be held at the Auraria Campus in Downtown Denver, with off-site field trips included. The course will cover strategies for a range of environments and situations, with an emphasis on the Front Range bioregion, social justice and urban agriculture. Through an engaging mix of lecture, hands-on group activities, and real-world design projects, participants will gain a comprehensive understaning of ecological thinking and how to apply it in a variety of contexts.
The Denver PDC is recommended for urban farmers, design professionals, community organizers, homeowners, and anybody seeking a comprehensive framework for sustainable change. Registration is $950 with a $250 deposit before August 15th, or $1100 after August 15th.
